Uniform

Please ensure children wear appropriate clothing for dance classes to ensure visibility and ease of movement. We aim for safety and comfort at all times, whilst also empowering dancers to feel their best in the clothes they wear. Please no denim, short skirts, mini shorts or other revealing/restricting clothing that may compromise a dancers ability to move and feel comfortable.

Please ensure long hair is tied back from dancers face for all classes.

Open Jazz (non exam):

There is no set uniform for this class, though black form fitting clothes are preferred. This includes black leggings or bike shorts and a black singlet, leotard or crop top. Please no denim shorts, jeans or other restrictive clothing. If you would like to order an optional Dance Vibes uniform, it is available online at

Exam Classes:

Jazz Shoes:

These are a requirement for all jazz classes. Jazz shoes can be purchased online via Trade Me, or other online dance suppliers such as https://www.dancestorenz.co.nz and https://dancewarehousenz.co.nz 

Exam Class Uniform

Shirt:

The Dance Vibes singlet is a compulsory item for students enrolled in exam classes. All other Dance Vibes branded clothes is optional.  

Pants

Acro Dance Preschool & Beginners: 

Girls: Any colour leotard. If purchasing specifically for the class, a black “Bronwyn” leotard is preferred (available here at our uniform shop online). Kmart do sell a black leotard for very cheap, however they are not great quality and won’t last nearly as long: Kmart Leotard

Optional: leggings or bike shorts. Dancers may wear footless/stirrup stockings under their leotard in colder months (footless tights also available from Kmart). Feet must be bare to avoid risk of slipping – no socks please.

Boys: Any colour t-shirt or singlet (must not be too loose) with non restrictive shorts or leggings. Boys are welcome to wear a leotard if they are comfortable to do so.

Junior Acro Dance:

Open Hip Hop:

Any loose fitting and comfortable clothing such as a t-shirt and basketball shorts, leggings or tracksuit pants. Can choose to purchase the Dance Vibes brand t-shirt if desired, which is available on our uniform shop online.

Any comfortable and supportive running shoes or sneakers. 

Second Hand Uniforms:

If your child has outgrown their uniform, please let me know and we can sell it on to another child. Please enquire if you are interested in buying second hand uniform.

Second Hand Dance Vibes Singlets: $20 (good condition)

Second Hand Jazz Shoes $20 (good condition)

Second Hand Hoodies/Jazz Jackets with no personalised name: $40 (good condition)

If not using the Dance Vibes branded leggings, dancers must wear black leggings or bike shorts.

Jazz shoes are required for exam classes. Black slip on shoes are preferred, but lace up and tan coloured shoes are acceptable too. Jazz shoes are available on our online uniform store, or you may be able to find cheaper shoes on trade me or other online dance stores if you search for jazz shoes online.

Non Exam Classes:

Students are welcome to wear the Dance Vibes branded uniform for non exam classes also. Otherwise, black form fitting clothing is preferred.

Shirt: 

Black singlet, crop top or fitted shirt.

Pants:

Black leggings or bike shorts.

Please ensure that dancers do not wear denim shorts or other restrictive/revealing clothing, as it inhibits their ability to move freely. 

Shoes:

Jazz shoes are requested for all dance classes. Black slip on shoes are preferred, but lace up and tan coloured shoes are acceptable too. Jazz shoes are available on our online uniform store, or you may be able to find cheaper shoes on trade me or other online dance stores if you search for jazz shoes online.

Hip Hop:

Students taking a hip hop or combo class are welcome to bring street shoes to wear for the hip hop dance portion of their class. Otherwise, jazz shoes or bare feet are fine.
