My name is Sherri and I am the proud owner of Dance Vibes NZ. I am a mum of four and a passionate teacher and choreographer. Born and raised in Melbourne Australia, I began learning dance and performing arts from a young age.
By the age of 16, my love of dance and the arts lead me to audition for Jason Coleman’s Ministry of Dance full time course to pursue a career as a professional dancer. The wealth of knowledge, experience and passion that I gained and the dozens of incredible teachers and choreographers I had the privilege of working with has helped to shape the dancer and teacher that I am today.
Upon moving to New Zealand in 2011, I saw a real need for child friendly dance classes in the Bay of Islands. So the following year, I started Dance Central Dance School and taught children’s dance classes in Paihia, Opua and Russell before falling pregnant with my first child.
In 2019, I established Dance Vibes NZ with the intention of building a dance community within Kerikeri where children are free to be themselves and learn in a safe, positive and empowering environment. Since then, this incredible community has grown and developed into a diverse and loving second family that has brought so much joy and a huge sense of belonging to a large part of the Far North Community. Dance Vibes is my pride and joy and my labour of love.
Over the last several years, I have had the pleasure of working as a choreographer for local shows including The Stage Door’s Beauty & The Beast and Treasure Island, as well as our very own Dance Vibes production of Alice In Wonderland.
Working with children and dancing are my life long passions. I love to teach our tamariki of all ages and abilities how to dance and to inspire a love of movement in our next generation!
