Dress rehearsals
Both dress rehearsals will take place at Kerikeri Primary School Hall on Saturday 5 December 2026.
| Rehearsal | Rehearsal time | Dancers arrive |
|---|---|---|
| Juniors | 9–11:30am | 8:30am |
| Seniors | 11:30am–3pm | 11am |
Please check in at the hall door on arrival.
Parents and caregivers are welcome to stay and watch. Please note that audience seating will not be set out for rehearsals.
Costumes, hair and makeup
For both dress rehearsals and shows, dancers must arrive with hair and makeup fully done. Costumes will be waiting for them at the hall.
The costume and show fee has already been included with Term 4 fees.
Please ensure your dancer has the required footwear:
- Jazz – Grade 2 and above: Jazz shoes are required. Please get in touch if your dancer does not have them.
- Hip hop: Sneakers are required.
- Ballet: Ballet shoes and ballet tights are required.
Many jazz classes will also need tan jazz tights, which parents must supply. We will confirm which classes require these before you purchase them.
Some classes will need to supply part of their own costume. Class-specific costume, hair and makeup details will be shared once confirmed, including exactly what families need to provide.
Please bring water and snacks, and clearly name all shoes, clothing and belongings.
Junior Show – supervision and collection
Every class in the Junior Show will have an assigned class helper to supervise their group, assist with getting ready and guide dancers to and from the stage.
When watching the show, dancers will sit quietly with their group on the floor at the front of the audience. Class helpers will sit in the reserved front-row seats directly behind their groups. These seats are complimentary for helpers only.
Dancers must remain with their assigned group until collected. Please collect your dancer directly from their helper, who will sign them out into your care. This applies whether you are taking them to sit with you or leaving the venue.
Once signed out, dancers are their caregiver’s responsibility, including while sitting on the audience floor. Dancers who have not been collected will remain with their helper.
Dancers performing in multiple classes will have one designated main group and helper. Helpers will coordinate their performances and costume changes.
Senior Show – backstage arrangements
Senior Show dancers are expected to manage their belongings, costume changes and readiness for each performance.
Backstage helpers will be available to assist, and runners will guide dancers from the changing rooms to the stage. Dancers must follow their instructions and remain in the designated dancer areas.
After their final performance, dancers may sit quietly in the designated audience floor area to watch.
Please let a backstage helper know before leaving the venue and ensure collection arrangements have been agreed with your parent or caregiver.
Finale and leaving early
Our finale will be a relaxed celebration, and all dancers will join in. Dancers will be invited up from the audience and backstage at the end of the show.
If your Junior Show dancer has been signed out and would like to rejoin their group for the finale, please hand them back to their class helper so they can be signed back in. Collect them from the same helper afterwards.
Very young dancers may leave after their final dance if needed, although they will miss the finale. Please ensure their class helper signs them out before you leave.
Photography and filming
Audience photography and filming are welcome.
Please do not use flash photography, and be considerate of those around you. Keep aisles clear and avoid blocking anyone’s view or disrupting their enjoyment of the show.
Volunteers – we’d love your help!
Our shows are a team effort, and we’d love some extra hands to help make the weekend run smoothly.
We’re looking for:
- Junior class helpers: Supervise an assigned group, help with costumes and manage dancer collection.
- Backstage helpers and runners: Help dancers get ready and move between the changing rooms and stage.
- Ticket scanners: Four volunteers for each show to welcome audience members and scan tickets.
- Front-of-house helpers: Assist with seating and audience questions.
- Setup and pack-down helpers: Help prepare the hall and tidy up afterwards.
- A volunteer coordinator: Help organise the volunteer roster, share instructions and be the main point of contact for helpers on the day.
We’d also appreciate help at the dress rehearsals on Saturday 5 December, particularly from those helping backstage at the shows.
Show volunteers will receive a complimentary ticket to the other show as a thank-you. Junior class helpers will have reserved working seats with their groups, but may miss parts of the performance while carrying out their duties.
Senior student helpers
We’d love senior dancers to help support our younger students at the junior dress rehearsal and show. Student helpers will work alongside adult volunteers, with duties arranged around their own rehearsals and performances.
Please contact Sherri or Zoe to volunteer, letting us know which rehearsal or show you’re available for and what you’d be happy to help with.
Thank you for supporting our dancers. We can’t wait to celebrate with our Dance Vibes whānau!
